Roberts of Stephenville in tie-down roping ($17,357). 

Vezain's triumph, after a score of 88 atop Dirty Jacket, was the most tense. After Kaycee Field of The Woodlands also scored 88, giving both men $10,889 on the night and $17,030 each overall, Vezain was awarded the gold buckle on a tiebreaker — he had won a previous go-round session at the rodeo. 

"It was a great feeling to come out and compete with the big dogs," he said. 

The 10 competitors in tie-down roping came in separated from top to bottom by less than $1,300, meaning the winner of Saturday's competition would grab the crown.
