Toronto Police have released images and a video of a suspect wanted in the sex assault of two women in their Avenue Rd. and Lawrence Ave. home Monday morning.

“The officers are still trying to identify who the man is,” Const. Tony Vella said Tuesday.

The 15-second video shows a man in dark clothing walking up steps leading to the home. Police described the suspect as white, 5-foot-10 to six feet, clean shaven with a medium build and short dark hair.

He was last spotted holding a white bag and wearing a black jacket, black pants and a grey shirt.

The image from a TTC bus shows the man wearing a bright blue shirt under a dark jacket.

Two women, aged 25 and 30, were attacked after a man — armed with a knife and claiming to sell newspapers — knocked on their door. Once it was opened, he forced himself inside the house and was involved in a struggle.

“He basically broke into the home with a knife, sexually assaulted both women, and during the struggle he sustained a wound to his shoulder,” Vella said.

At least one of the woman was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

The man was not known to the victims and fled in an unknown direction. He is believed to have left behind blood at the scene.

Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

Residents in the neighbourhood cautiously opened doors Monday as a Toronto Sun reporter visited them to gauge their reactions.

“I'm shocked and disappointed, and concerned,” Dan, a resident who didn't want his name used, said at his front door Monday.

“There are tons of kids on this street … it's scary,” he said.

His wife, who didn't want her name used, said “up until two months ago, I was home every day. That's pretty scary.”
