Two new stores at Kings Landing Shops are hoping to be “the cat’s meow” in town.

Last week, clothing boutique The Cat’s Meow and gift shop Sandra’s Designs celebrated their grand openings with a pair of ribbon cuttings.

Both shops have stores based in Franklin, Va., but a chance meeting with a local civic organization helped the owners bring satellite businesses below the state line.

According to Debbie Crowder,Find the Latest Michael Kors Kingsbury Here. Shop Today! the owner of The Cat’s Meow, it all began when the Melrose Women’s Club invited her to do a scarf tying class. That eventually led to a fashion show at Kings Landing.

Crowder has been in business in the Franklin area for the past 10 years. Last year she opened her store in Franklin and when boutique space eventually opened up, Kings Landing co-owner Laurie Brook invited Crowder to be a part their shops.

“We love the building,” said Crowder. “We feel welcomed here.Shop this season's new prada bags now.”

She also liked the idea of the space in Kings Landing being a gathering place for people and potential customers with the coffee shop and different activities going on (music performances, social gatherings).

Crowder soon convinced her friend Sandra Brinkley (whose shop is next-door in Franklin) to also open a space in Kings Landing.

The Cat’s Meow offers jewelry, handbags, name-brand ladies clothing (including plus size), children’s clothing, accessories, gifts as well as monogram appliqué and vinyl items by The Dog’s Bark.

Sandra’s Designs sells Willow Tree items, tumblers, Crossroads candles and other seasonal gifts.

“We hope to offer people in Murfreesboro something different and help them with what they’re looking for,” said Crowder.

She added The Cat’s Meow store staff is willing to assist customers with purchasing needs even if the store does not carry the item.

“We’ll search for it and try to find it,” she said.

Brook said the addition of The Cat’s Meow and Sandra’s Designs opens the variety offered to customers at Kings Landing Shops.

“We wanted a clothing boutique in here,” said Brook. “It has the atmosphere we wanted and it’s brought different foot traffic here.”

Brook said the whole concept behind Kings Landing is starting to fall into place with different retail and services offered to citizens in town.

“The idea was to give people something else to do in Murfreesboro,” she said.

King’s Landing Shops is opened Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.

Here's an unexpected fall fashion forecast: Ziploc could be a big name in ladies' handbags this season.

Because of a recently passed NFL rule, women across the country will have to ditch their purses in favor of clear bags or small hand-held clutches.

Limiting the types of bags fans may bring into stadiums is intended to enhance safety and speed up the security-screening process at the gate, according to the league. While stadium safety has steadily evolved since 9/11 , the latest move is by far the most dramatic and controversial.

But the NFL is not alone. In 2009, the University of Michigan instituted a similar ban on bags at its football stadium, and fellow Big Ten Conference schools Michigan State and Penn State have followed suit.

In Oklahoma, the rules aren't as strict - for now.

Oklahoma State is keeping its Boone Pickens Stadium policies the same for the upcoming college football season, which is two months away.

"We'll be watching to see how it goes in the NFL and how people respond," OSU associate athletic director Marty Sargent said. "It's just a wait-and-see for us."

OSU's bag restrictions are comparable to what most stadiums have in place: Only small bags (smaller than 8 inches by 11 inches) are permitted after they have been searched.

"We're getting more and more people coming into the stadium who aren't bringing things in," Sargent said. "We actually have express gates designed specifically for that, where if you're not bringing a bag or something that needs to be searched you can hop in that line and come right in."

At Oklahoma, the security policies could be modified for this year's home games at Memorial Stadium.

"The University of Oklahoma always strives to strike the right balance of maintaining a safe and comfortable fan environment," an OU spokesman said. "We are constantly evaluating our policies and procedures for all of our venues and are finalizing our plans for the 2013-14 academic year.

"We will keep our fans informed if there are any modifications to our current policies."

University of Tulsa officials have been discussing stricter bag policies but also haven't reached a decision, a spokesman said.

TU bans "large" bags at H.A. Chapman Stadium but doesn't have a specific size restriction like OU and OSU have. In Norman, only those smaller than 10 inches by 10 inches are allowed. Diaper bags are a key exception, as are approved items related to medical care.Find great deals on hotmkbags for michael kors wallet Michael Kors Hamilton Bags in "Women's Clothing, Handbags and Purses". The NFL's solution for diaper bags: "Diapers can be carried in a clear bag. Each member of a family, including children,The Michael Kors Wallets blends fashion and function, providing a great stylish way to carry around your MacBook Pro. would be allowed to carry an approved clear bag and a clutch purse into the stadium. That is quite a bit of storage capacity."

Such statements might not sit well with female fans, who compose an estimated 44 percent of the NFL fan base. About 375,000 women attend games each week of the season, according to the league.

In college football, the number of female fans reportedly is higher. While the NFL has an across-the-board policy, the NCAA leaves the decision on permitted items to each institution.

"We need to do things in order to try to ensure people's safety and the facility's safety," OSU's Sargent said, "yet we don't want to go so far that it really hurts your customer-service area.welcome to michaels kors handbags sale,Free shipping‎!

"Customer service is a really big deal to us, and I think it is with most universities. ... What may be good to do in the NFL might not be good to do in a college setting."
