On the evening of Nov. 4, 2010, Mohamed Mohamud wrapped a bright red scarf around his head and donned a camouflage jacket. He knelt on a prayer rug in front of a white sheet, shuffling through papers, and cleared his throat.

Then he looked into a camera to record what government prosecutors now describe as his "goodbye video."

"I like it, I like it," said Mohamud's friend "Hussein," who, unbeknownst to Mohamud, was an undercover FBI agent posing as an al-Qaida terrorist.

Mohamud, then a 19-year-old college student, began reading in Arabic. And he offered a warning in English to the enemies of Islam.

"Did you think you could invade a Muslim land and we would not invade you?"

Prosecutors played the video Tuesday before a jury in Portland's U.S. District Court during the second day of testimony in the trial of U.Erik's Bike Shop is proud to carry Specialized Cycling, gear and apparel.S. v. SELLWOOD BRIDGE: Starting Saturday, the deck of the Sellwood Bridge will be moved ever so slowly to new piers that will turn it into a temporary detour bridge.

Stayton-based Slayden Construction, which formed a joint venture with Sundt, an Arizona contractor, are tackling the $307.5 million replacement of the Sellwood Bridge.

Challenging facets fill the construction project list. One is the extensive in-water work of sinking long steel columns for both a traffic detour bridge and a work bridge just upstream, which contractors will use as a staging platform to build the permanent structure.Cheap christian louboutin boots on sale in our shop christian louboutin.

"It's a critical part of the entire operation, and it has taken lots of planning," said Ed Wortman, a retired Multnomah County engineer who was brought back in a temporary, part-time capacity to review work done by other designers and contractors. "Always in the backs of our minds is the thought, what might come up that we haven't thought about?"

PLEA DEAL: Relatives of slain 14-year-old Yashanee Vaughn said they met with Multnomah County prosecutors on Tuesday and were told a plea deal was reached with Vaughn's accused killer Parrish Bennette Jr.

Vaughn's grandmother said she was disappointed to learn that Bennette would plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter and face an 18-year prison sentence, under the anticipated plea arrangement.

Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill said Tuesday night that prosecutors have been in serious negotiations with the defendant and settlement Judge Eric Bergstrom. On Tuesday, Underhill said, they sought input from the victim's family and police investigators "on how best to resolve this case."

Thaddeus Betz, one of Bennette's defense attorneys, declined comment Tuesday night.

Bennette is expected to change his plea at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Vaughn's family said.
SEX OFFENDER: Portland police and school officials are advising residents around the Pearl District to be on the lookout for a homeless convicted sex offender who recently moved to the area.

Gordon M. Strauss, 59, registered to reside at Northwest Ninth Avenue and Lovejoy Street in early December. He is allowed to live anywhere within 10 blocks of the intersection, said Officer Sara Clark of the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Offender Registration Detail.

However, he has not specified his residence yet.

Strauss was sentenced in July 1987 to 10 years in prison in Washington state after being convicted of rape. He was linked to three other sexual assaults of women in the late 1970s and early 1980s,Welcome to RadioShack Cycling jersey online! according to court documents.Great discounts on our huge range of Castelli Cycling clothing .

HOMELESS CAMP: The city of Portland Office of Management and Finance last week sent a bill for $12,592 to Right 2 Dream Too, which runs a rest area for homeless people at Northwest Fourth and Burnside.

Developers in the area have said the homeless camp, established October 2011, needs to be cleared out. Supporters and activists say it's a safe place for people to stay during the night.

According to Right 2 Dream Too, previous notices regarding city code violations for recreational camping have been sent to the property's owners, and the Jan. 10 notice was the first the organization has received.
SCHOOL BOND: The Gresham-Barlow School District is weighing whether to ask voters to approve a construction bond to upgrade its 19 schools, which have an average age of 40 and include two older than 90.

A 38-member planning committee is meeting to examine building conditions and projected needs over the next 10 years for the district, which enrolls more than 11,000 students. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 23, in the Center for Advanced Learning, 1484 N.W. Civic Drive in Gresham.
